A TIMELESS AESTHETIC
We consider ourselves Fine Art Wedding Photographers that specialize in romantic & timeless imagery. We use film and digital seamlessly to create soft, natural looking photographs for a timeless aesthetic. Film is not subjected to the same trendy editing techniques that many digital images are. Film, by it's very nature of being an image burned into a literal film, is scanned and processed resulting in an image that often doesn't need to be adjusted via editing and therefore doesn't undergo filters, presets or trendy forms of post-processing.
FILM PHOTOGRAPHY: A MORE THOUGHTFUL APPROACH
Film takes intention from the photographer. We have to take in every moment purposefully and have a mastery of understanding light. For our clients, this sort of artistic, thoughtful approach to capturing their wedding day not only creates an experience for them that is less rushed and more emotive, it creates images that are unparalleled in the rendering of light, depth and colour. Our goal is to create images that remind our couples not just how they looked, but how they felt, and film assists with that by rendering light in a way that is closer to the human eye than that of a digital camera.
HYBRID PHOTOGRAPHY - THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Now all that being said, we are "Hybrid" wedding photographers, meaning we shoot both with our medium format film cameras and our digital cameras. Digital photography handles low-light scenarios better than film, so we like to use the best of both worlds! During the reception we tend to shoot digitally. All of our digital images are edited in a way to mimic the look of our film images so that when you receive your full wedding gallery, the photos are cohesive.
IMAGE PROCESSING & TURNAROUND TIMES- WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Any images that are shot with our film cameras are sent away to a film lab to be processed and then scanned so they become high-resolution digital files. The final product that we deliver to our clients is a beautifully curated gallery of high-resolution, digital files that are print-ready. Typically we deliver 800-1,000 images for a full day of coverage with two photographers. Our average turn-around time is 6-8 weeks, and our couples receive sneak peeks within 24 hours of the wedding!
